The Art of Gift Giving

The Art of Gift Giving

Anyone who has ever gotten or given a gift can weigh in about the topic of giving gifts. It can be a challenge any time of year, but especially during the holidays. Every year the question of what to get the people I love weighs on me. It's a tough one, especially for that person who has everything or who is especially tough to buy for.

Once upon a time, when my kids were younger, I had a great grasp on what they wanted and would love, and Santa was on point. In the teen years I relied heavily on lists from them, and now things have further deteriorated to electronic (Canva or Power Point presentation) lists with links directly to purchase the wished for (or needed) items. There really is very little creativity in my gift giving for my daughters. Afterall, I want them to like what they get, and if I'm being honest, I have my doubts these days about what will "slay".

Gift giving for others, I find a bit easier. I usually try to think about the person, their interests and their style, and get something that I think they might not purchase for themselves. I use my own experience and think of things I might really like but would find too frivolous to actually buy for myself. Viola, a great gift!

I know that some people may not appreciate a random gift, but some love it, so I also think it's important to know your audience. For example, a gift card is perfect for some because they want to pick something out and may not have the money to shop, while others may find a gift card impersonal. It's a conundrum. I love a gift card as a thank you gift, but if I really know someone, I find it a little generic to give just a gift card. It kind of takes the joy out of gifting for me.

Of course, I know that no matter what I give or get, it's the thought that counts. Whatever your budget is, it's fun to pick that special something out that you think someone will really like. With all that said, I have selected some items on Jenniedots.com at lots of affordable price points that I believe are cute, unique, and fun. Items that I might love to get, and hopefully you might love to get or give also.

For this holiday season, check out the Cutsey & Giftable or the Gifts & Stocking Stuffers Collections for some great gift ideas for the women in your life.
